good way to upcycle old sweaters

"i bought the dark in S and crossed my fingers.
the one I got has a heathered dark grayish blue fisherman sweater body that is long enough to cover my behind. It seems to be in a cotton/poly blend material. The fisherman design is on both the front and the backside. nice.
the sleeves are in wide stripes of oatmeal and heathered purple. The material seems to be wool/poly blend that slightly irritates the skin on my arms but not too much so.
the way the bodice and arms connects is like raglan. In a glance the sleeve part looks like a shrug.
Some got the turtle neck version. Mine is a crew neck.
It is a perfect lazy day/beach sweater, big enough to feel comfy but not too big to swallow me.
For the sale price below ten bucks it is a keeper :-)"

Not what you would think.

"I was super excited to get this because I saw this and thought it was super cute and then it went on sale and I ordered right away. It came in the mail today, though, and it's *completely* different. The sweater is turtlenecked, and has yellow, blue, and red sleeves. Returning right away."

risky only because it's urban renewal

"I agree a lot with daftnezzie (first reviewer) that the material is thick and scratchy. I recommend wearing a long sleeve tee underneath. But it's thick, which provides bang for my buck at this sale price. I also do think they randomly attach sleeves to sweater vests, but to be fair, models in the pictures have stylists who find bottoms to match the sweaters. And any color goes with white. I ordered a few to see the different designs they come in, pick the ones I like, and return the rest. Each one's knitting is unique."

"only about 2 out of every 40 of these sweaters are actually cute. the material is thick and scratchy and there's no guarantee the sweater will be well made. they just throw sleeves on uglyass sweater-vests. they don't even try to color-coordinate like the model's."
