"LOVE this backpack! I totally recommend this to anyone for school, for work, for hiking/gym travel, etc--YOU NAME IT. You won't regret your purchase because of its convenient pockets, its trendy belt-buckle snap-ons, roomy compartment, & solid build. If you look below, my pic with the 'inside' view contains a notebook, a folder, AND my 13.3" ultra slim laptop 1.7kg (3.7 lbs); and of course a calculator, an agenda and other junk (;
So, I'm in college..freshman & I have been looking for this bag everywhere ever since I got out of HS and I found it online HERE. I got it in GREY color, was worried about the reviews regarding lint on black or getting dirty on ivory. I did my research like I always do (heck, it's just a bag, right??) and wanted to make sure there wasn't anything faulty like the top zipper or the back discreet zipper. Even went on youtube & saw a couple of 'what's in my bag'...(*hinttt)
ALSO, if you're like me wanting to wait out a little for sales to come around..please do! I just got mine today at UO in Evanston. And the straps DO NOT HURT...at least not in this version of the backpack, it's very comfortable and doesn't look bulky no matter what you put in! Also my 'front' pic has charms (which I added to it, so it doesn't come with the purchase, but VERY STYLISH) I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a convenient, stylish comfortable and roomy backpack :)"

AWESOME
(March 21, 2013)
"I love my backpack. I got it in yellow and it's worked pretty well for everything I've used it for. Take it to school everyday, I don't treat it delicately, i even took my dog hiking....IN the backpack haha. I got it in yellow and suits me well. But if you're going to be carring a lot of books or random things, it might feel weird on your back considering there is no cushion for comfort."

worth the price
(February 7, 2013)
"I got this backpack in black. It is a lot bigger than I expected and it has a ton of pockets. My only complaint is how often the canvas catches lint and cat fur, but that is mostly my fault for having two indoor cats :b i got it while it was on sale, but i would still purchased it at full price! It fits my 17-inch laptop, a few textbooks and spirals. And all of the pockets are a definite plus. Don't miss out on this!"

Worst purchase i have ever made
(January 25, 2013)
"When i first saw this backpack i needed it , i feel right in love. I bought it a few years back and i have experienced nothing but troubles with it . I ordered it online because the store didnt have the colour i wanted (cream)(which was annoying because i travelled 2 hours to find it)only to find out that i have to pay over 100 dollars for the thing (with shipping and tax) . It didnt arrive when it was suppose to.... Opened it up to find that the zippers didnt work right , i didnt feel like spending the money to ship it back so i just kept it and loosed up the zipper with some cooking oil ,it worked fine. A few months in one of the front buckles broke off so i had to improvise and velcrow it on rather than snap it on , eventually the velcrow fell off too. A year later i found out It doesnt hold weight ...at all, i used it for school a few times and i couldnt carry anything in it because the weight was too much, so i ended up using it for a sleepover bag , just for clothes. I took the bag to the exhibition (threw a water bottle in it , my wallet , a pair of light sneakers and a sweater) and one of the straps broke off halfway through the day , THE BAG WASNT EVEN HEAVY! worst purchase of my life, deffinatly regret it ......total waste of money !!!! *i dont know if my bag was just a dud , but it was not good at all *"
"P-E-R-F-E-C-T for school! Very roomy and extremely comfortable... It is very durable and stylish. I purchased this in-store for the same exact price (grey) and to be honest, I didn't expect what it would really be... In person, the backpack looks a lot bigger (a plus) yet a lot cuter! I would recommend this backpack to all you busy ayced smart students/traveler (EVERYONE) out there to get this!!!!!!!! So for all that doesn't have a job or can't afford, ask your parents away! Can't say no to school, right? :)"
"This backpack in ivory originally caught the eye of my friend years ago, but the $69 pricetag was a big drawback so neither of us got it. But now UO's having a $39 backpack sale so I had to order one, especially since I'm off to college this year and I need a durable bookbag. Ivory canvas would get dirty way too easily and the gray looked really faded and washed out so I decided on black, I figured a lint roller every once in a while would clean the canvas should it need it. The canvas is kind of sturdy but not very thick, the snaps look like they'll last, the faux leather trimming doesn't look cheap. No padding on this backpack. There are tons of pockets. Two side button-snap pouches, a zip pouch on the flapover, a magnet-snap pocket on the front, and when you lift open the flapover, there's a slip pocket behind the flap. The main compartment contains two slip pockets and a zip pocket. A minor complaint is that the inner lining of the backpack is very thin and seems prone to rips and tears. The very back of the backpack has a zipper that opens into the main compartment (for easy access. Instead of having to unsnap the flapover and loosening the drawstring to get to the main compartment, you can simply reach in through the back of your backpack). Straps are lined with faux leather and are adjustable. Hardware is an antiqued brass color. How I used it: cosmetic bag in the front pouch, keys in one side pouch and a water bottle in the other, pencil case in the flapover zip pouch, wallet in the slip pocket behind the flap, and in the main compartment: 1-inch binder, two textbooks (mind you, they were economics and anatomy books, very thick and very heavy), cellphone, lip balm, iPod, and my lunch. I probably overstuffed it, but the backpack fit everything and with the drawstring to cinch everything closed and tight, there isn't much to complain about. I'd be wary about carrying that much on a daily basis, however. Remember that the canvas is not very thick (the BDG Buckle Tote has much sturdier, thicker canvas) nor is the lining. Too much would probably rip this thing. But one binder, a textbook, and the other essentials would probably be fine. More than one textbook and you're pushing it. All in all, I recommend this backpack for the sale price of $39, but for the regular price, you should go with a Jansport Right Pack (or "Basic Backpack" as it's called on the UO website), which is only $55 and is very durable (before this Ecote backpack, I owned two Jansports, one which I used for 3 years and the other which is 5 years old and still going)."
"I was looking for a backpack that can hold my heavy books, and laptop. This is it! After months of looking, and buying back packs. This is a well made, and sturdy back pack that can hold a college students stuff all day! It's so cheap! & worth every penny! My boyfriend bought this for me, and once it arrived I ordered one for him."

Great Bag
(January 8, 2013)
"I've had this bag for three or four years now. I just recently had to purchase a new one because my old one broke. The old version had a zipper down the side that broke easily but this new version has a zipper across the top to prevent it from tearing which I really like. The only problem I have with the new adjustments to this bag is that they changed the clasps and while they still work, they definitely open more easily and sometimes come apart on there own. I wish it was a little larger. I have a 15" laptop and while is sort of fits, it's harder to close and awkward to carry if I have my school books in it as well. Definitely worth the price. It's so great that i bought it twice!"

Aesthetically, yes. Functionally...?
(January 3, 2013)
"I had been drooling over this bag for months- nay, years. I finally caved in and decided to buy it, after my most recent backpack kicked the bucket. I honestly couldn't decide on a color-- they were all so pretty! I'm pretty sure I asked like ten people for their opinions before I purchased it. I decided on gray, which I really like. Honestly, though, after seeing how much darker it is in real life than in the picture, I kind of wished I had gone with black. It looks more like a faded navy blue than light gray. But both are great.
I received a lot of compliments on it, which is all good and well. But let's talk about functionality. Does it serve its purpose? Yes. Is it the most versatile backpack I've ever owned? Eh... No. The material is much thinner than I expected, and while it does have many pockets, and holds a heavy book or two, it has a few flaws.
The bottom outer pocket is not very secure. Even when it is buttoned, I have had several pens and pencils fall out while I was walking or picking up my bag after class. The little leather thing on the zipper also kept coming untied and falling off.
I like that the belt-buckles actually just snap on, but I have to admit that when I was considering buying it, I had read a review where someone said their snap on buckles had fallen off. I generally tend to dismiss bad reviews, assuming that it was just a fluke. But after only a couple of weeks, I noticed the snap on the right side of my bag started to fall, as well. I was disappointed about that, but it still works, so it's not a deal breaker, yet. Not until the other snap goes, ha.
Aside from that, though, I still really love this bag. If I had to go back and buy another backpack for school and textbooks, I might find something sturdier. But if you're just planning to use it for carrying around lightweight stuff, it's perfect. It's comfortable and light, too. And super cute, so that's always a plus :) Hope that helps!"

Ehhhhhh
(December 30, 2012)
"Okay, this bag is great... so I thought. I've had the bag for less than six months and two of the magnet buckles already have fallen. I don't know if it's me or how the bag was made but I'm deeply disappointed. The bag seems promising but truly, it's a risk to take. I mean, if you're looking for a bag that's going to last you, then you might want to consider other options."

Great Quality Bag
(December 27, 2012)
"I've always been a tote bag person, but when I read the reviews for this backpack, I decided to give it a go. It was a really great decision! The bag is very roomy without looking bulky. I was able to fit my huge 17 inch laptop in it with textbooks, notebooks, and other miscellaneous items with no problem. The bag distributed weight very well so my fully packed backpack didn't even feel heavy. My only regret is that I purchased the bag in black. It gets linty like you would not believe and it is an extreme hassle. Other than that, I completely love this backpack."

Cute but...
(December 27, 2012)
"I am 5'2 and 110lbs. This backpack is soo cute but it is way too big for me. I wish they made it a bit smaller. I did end up buying it though but another reason I returned it besides the size is that I planned to use this for every day uses but it is such a hassle to open and close the backpack . You have the magnet things to open and then the string to untighten and then you can take out your things. And even though you have a zipper on the back it doesnt unzip smoothly so its basically pointless too. I felt so awkward opening it and closing it and taking my things out in public. 5 stars for the look but 2 stars for how its made."

Great bag!
(December 19, 2012)
"I needed something for school and looked through UO's bags on a whim and found this gem! I was wary of buying it online because people talked about broken straps, etc, but it showed up in perfect condition! The shoulder straps are average size for any standard backpack. All of the inner and outside pockets are great because I can use it as a purse while I'm at school. Also, the back zipper DOES have a function: to get in and out of the inside without messing with the straps! Makes things a lot easier, especially during a lecture."

Great Bag, cute in ivory.
(December 13, 2012)
"I brought this bag awhile ago for university due to the past reviews mentioning tones of space, pockets, and the overall quality of the bag being awesome. I would definitely have to agree. The bag has been able to hold 3 days worth of clothes for me on multiple occasions, hold all my textbooks including my laptop and lunchbox, And still it has come out with no indication of breaking or weakening. My only problem with it is that since I purchased the ivory one, some darker fabrics rub off onto the fabric. But its not too much of a hassle to clean. I would definitely recommend buying it."

Horrible quality for it's price point
(December 7, 2012)
"I bought this backpack when it still rather pricy, around 80. And within months, straps and zippers began to fall off. The design with the side zipper serves zero purpose whatsoever. The zipper teeth would not hold together, and the backpack became completely useless."
