Exactly what I needed!

"Love this little bookcase. It is exactly as pictured - the color and the distressing. I bought the aqua one, and I am very happy with my purchase. It is also surprisingly sturdy! Came in a very secure box and was undamaged. Perfect for a little space! I bought it for my bathroom because I have no storage. Good price compared to the other pieces of furniture I was looking at. Definitely recommend!"

"This is a perfect shelf for little knick-knacks! One of the legs was bent when it arrived, but it was super easy to fix with a rubber mallet."

Great sturdy little shelves!

"I just moved from a house with built-in shelves to an apartment and needed somewhere to store all my books (I have quite a bit since I was an English major). I ordered three of these in black and put them side by side and they work great! No dents or scratched paint! Very sturdy, even with the weight of all my books. The only thing I wish was different is the shelves aren't adjustable so my taller books only fit on the op shelf or if I lay them down, but that works for me! Love these!"

"Purchased this last weekend, had it by Thursday. It's perfect for what I wanted in my craft room. I bought the aqua color, I love how its distressed, love the color, but yet it doesn't overtake the room, what you load it with shows well."

"Ordered this bookcase as part of my 13 year old daughter's room make-over. Arrived less than a week after ordering already put together which was a big plus. So cute, great size (not too big / small). She really loves it! Will definitely purchase from Urban Outfitters again!"

"Slim and sturdy -- I bought this is in yellow and I was pleasantly surprised at how cheery and petite it was. Great addition to my room, and for a reasonable price:) I'm able to fit quite a few things on it (books, vintage tin boxes, picture frames). Definitely recommend!"

Petite bookcase

"Though I measured out the dimensions before purchasing, it's another thing to see just how petite it is once you get it! But you can tell from the user-uploaded photos that this can hold a lot. I know this will be a proud new home for my books, cameras, and small accents. I was considering another book case from another site but I liked the "openness" in the design of this one. I didn't see anything like it anywhere else. The fact it's pre-assembled is also a major plus. When I got it the box was wide open with several holes punched in it. I was afraid it was damaged, but this was the fault of the shipper, not UO, because it was clear they did a decent job packaging the bookcase before sending it out. Luckily for me it was undamaged. But maybe fragile should be printed onto the box so that it's better handled."

"The "artful" distressing on this item is terrible, it looks like it got chewed up by machinery during production. Also the color (yellow) is not nearly as bright and cheerful as pictured here. Will be returning."

"I ordered this bookcase in the turquoise, and it looks fantastic. It's sturdier than expected, and functions exactly as I hoped it would (shoe holder in my closet). I really have no complaints, and may have to order one more to get all of my shoes off the floor. I mean, it's not the holy grail of bookcases, but for the money, it ain't bad..."

"This is a sturdy little bookcase. Actually made pretty well. I read reviews before buying and all the people said the colors were off, but no one mentioned the silver one. Well, the silver/metal option looks more dark gray and black than silver. I don't mind the distressing, but it is by no means silver. Will probably just spray paint though."

"this shelf is perrrfect for our small apt. it looks great, matches some furniture, and is a real nice accent piece. it holds a great mix of things and also functions as our set down area once walking in the door. i highly recommend!!!"

"Love love love this little bookcase. Perfect for a small apartment - mine doubles as a nightstand and the turquoise color is perfect. Nice and airy. Mine came a bit bent but not enough to make a difference in function and whatever - it just lend to the charm. I'm moving in with my BF and he is wary of too much furniture but he likes it too. Very nice buy. :)"

"After reading the reviews I expected this to be pretty small, but it's actually not and I was pleasantly surprised. I am 5'7" and the bookcase comes right up to my hips. The distressing is very pretty (I bought it in silver and it looks beautifully tarnished and antique). It's also quite transparent and airy, so it doesn't take up too much space visually. It's very sturdy, the shelves hold all of my things comfortably and it doesn't look cramped. It holds nearly all of my books upright, so the spacing is good between shelves. Overall it's perfect and I'm very happy with it."

"I had my eye on this bookshelf for a month or two before buying it. I must admit that it was a little smaller than I anticipated but this is a recurring problem when I buy stuff online--I forget to check the dimensions!! Regardless, it's super cute and fits perfectly under my window, housing some books and plants :)"

Nice, but pricey

"I bought this shelf in matte black for my room. The design of the shelf is very open, which is the main reason I bought it. Visually, it will take up less space in my room than the tall, wooden bookcase I was considering. The shelf is pretty small, but it fits all my books and has some room for more. I have to lay some of my larger or taller books on their side so they fit, but I like the variation. The shelf looks pretty sturdy for being so lightweight. It's not worth more than $30 to me because it is so small, but it still cost less than other shelves I was looking at and is still attractive. I also move my furniture around every few months to keep things from feeling boring, so this will be easy to pick up."

Ugly Distressing

"I bought this bookshelf because it looked super cute online. I ordered it in yellow. I know that it says "artfully distressed" in the description... but it was not a beautiful look. It was just a very evenly, methodically placed scraping off of the paint that was so obviously done on purpose. It really takes away from the piece. I love the style of the piece other than that, so I decided to keep it. But I might end up spray painting over the entire thing so that the black "distressing" doesn't stand out. Also, the yellow isn't as bright as it looks on the website, which was somewhat of a downer."

"This bookshelf is perfect for small spaces. The fact that it isn't solid gives the illusion of it taking up less space than it might otherwise. I have mine against the wall that leads flush to my front door, and it doesn't look at all awkward. I would really, really love for UO to make this bookshelf in a taller size!
I think it could be a little cheaper for what it is which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but overall I'm really, really pleased!"

"I was reluctant to order furniture from UO bc i knew if I wasn't 100% satisfied, returning it would be a beast. But I went against my gut and ordered this bookcase anyway bc most of the reviewers liked it and i thought it would be a nice touch to my decor. When it finally arrived, I noticed there was a big hole punched in the front of the HUGE box it came in (bc it's already assembled). I figured this hole was made to make carrying the cumbersome box a little easier- which it did aide me when carrying it up the stairs to my apt. When I removed the bookshelf from the box, i was rather impressed by the size, color, sturdiness, etc. THEN i saw that one of the wires on one of the shelves was BENT on one side. ARgh!! So PO'd b/c just taking the shelf out of the box was such an ordeal, so i didn't even want to imagine the pain i'd go through to re-pack and ship it back out. The shelf is still functional- even the bent one, but I still know that it's damaged. I'm far too lazy to return it, so i'll just make it work. It was so close to being perfect. But i have now confirmed that i will probably never order furniture from UO again bc of the damage potential."

"I have been wanting this for months, and I'm glad I finally went ahead and got it. It's so adorable! It's a little smaller than I expected, but reading the measurements would have helped with that. It's still a good size and fits beautifully in my room. Sturdy and well made, and the color is so pretty."
