"After malling through the reviews to make sure my sizing was down I ordered a 9. I am usually a 8.5 or 9, but in this case i was an 8... which bummed me out because I was so excited when I received them and had to return them right away :c
I returned them and got an 8, and I know they're going to fit perfectly. These shoes are a good piece to have in any clothing collection.
Mix them with frilly ankle socks ( or any socks for that matter ) and a cute little floral dress and perhaps a nice jean jacket or vest you found et voila! - 90's babysitter all over again ( which i personally love that look ) hahah. Or even black sheer tights with some thick thermal socks and perhaps an oversized t shirt dress and a cozy .BDG cardigan? THE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS.
Thick socks is advised, wearing these bad boys in is going to be a treat. BUT - as you read, you'll have these lovelies for a very long time. Definitely a good investment. Nice for the winter too.

"These boots were literally the best investment I have made. I have been looking for boots for quite a while but all of the boots I have tried on just did not look right so I decided to try on Doc Marten's. Everyone informed me that they would be quite a hassle to break in so I was pretty hesitant but I got them anyways and they were a dream! They are comfortable, they go with everyone, they give every outfit a bit of an edgier look. I am definitely looking forward to getting a couple of more pairs."

"Beware! You will need a thick pair of socks and lots of band-aids breaking into these bad boys. My first day of wearing them with regular socks resulted in a bloody sock and cut up back of the foot!
Also, it may have just been mine, but the first day of wearing them resulted in a bubble forming on the front of my boot... Very disappointing seeing as I a pretty penny for these bad boys.
Other than that (!), these are obv very bad azz! Super stylish and so heavy duty once the breaking in part is over. My fourth pair of docs!"

"These shoes go with almost everything in my wardrobe and are so comfortable. I ordered in a size nine, I'm usually an 8.5, mine are a little big on me but they were easier to break in and I can wear thick socks with them. If your on the fence about buying them DO IT!! You will not regret it they last forever, and can be thrown on with any outfit!"

"These babies are beautiful. Like if my house were to burn down and i had to rescue something, these would be it! They literally go with anything! When my mom was a teenager she would wear them, and to this day they look good as new (17 years later to be exact) Yes, they will hurt in the process of breaking them in, but hey, beauty is pain. But after that its all smiles and rainbows. These being my 7th pair, i can guarentee you they're the best shoe purchase you'll ever make. pinky promise."

First Docs!

"This is my first pair of Docs and I hope they're not the last! I ordered them in black smooth and received them in the mail today. I ordered a size up because I have wide feet and they seem to fit perfectly although they are a little big (the reason I say they fit perfectly is because I will always wear them with thick socks so this compensates for the space).
A warning: when you're breaking them in, wear socks that are THICK and TALL. the rubbing of the boot against my calves above my ankle is already annoying me and I haven't even worn them outside yet (I'm breaking them in indoors for now).
The best advice for size I can give is to go to any shoe store that sells them (DM, Journeys, Nordstrom, Dillards, Macy's, etc) and try them on. This is truly the best way to solve the sizing issue.
I can tell that these boots will be with me for a long time to come and that I will cherish them forever :)"

True To Size for Medium Feet

"I was ECSTATIC when these came in and even more pleased as soon as I tried them on! I heard they ran large but they fit perfectly! I am a size 8.5-9 and ordered a size 9. They look so cute with any bottoms and I made a good decision to get Cherry Red instead of black. These are just the right shade and look very fashionable."

"If you have WIDE feet, go a size up.
If you have NARROW feet, go a size down.
If you have NARROW feet, go a size down.
Okay, now that you have figured out what to go with. You'll feel tightness around the toe area, it's normal. Doesn't mean that you need to go a size up. You just need to stretch that area with wear, and you'll be good. Expect to get blisters on the heel. That area is super stiff along with the toe area. Wear thick socks! I'm serious, don't be an idiot and go for ankle socks and thin socks. *ahem* me. Only because I didn't have thick long socks, and went for thick ankle socks. Poor decision.
Personally, I think it differs from person to person how long it takes to break these boots in. I broke mine in within two weeks. Others say a month or more.
It may be a pain to break these bbs in, but it's definitely worth the prince."

New Favourite Shoes

"I bought these Docs in black in the size 6. They run slightly large in my opinion, but that can easily be fixed by wearing some thicker socks. It took about a week and a half for me to break these boots in, and I love them. It's January and here in Canada the weather has been snowy and wet. I've been wearing these boots everyday since I got them and they stand up to the weather really well. After you break them in, they're super comfortable (slightly heavy but you get used to it) and they begin to crease in the places where they fit on your feet. This isn't a bad thing though (it makes them more comfortable), it's nothing obvious and they still look just as amazing as when I first received them. I feel like these will last me a lifetime, and they go with everything. I highly recommend buying these. I'll definitely be repurchasing Doc Martens in the future. I love them, hope this helped."

"soooooo, my shoes came today and i was completely satisfied when i tried them on. i was actually surprised that they were a perfect fit. i wear an 8.5/9 and i was worried if i ordered a 9 they would be a bit to big. However, they are perfect and i am going to rock the heck out of them. ! lol"

if you have stubby, fat, and wide feet

"i have stubby, fat and wide feet. i ordered a size 6 and i normally fit a size 6. but in this case the boot space was smaller then i thought probably because the material has better quality and is thicker then regular leather boots. upsizing highly recommended. now i gotta return these fabulous boots for a bigger size and i cant wait!"

"These boots are fantastic. I had been wanting a pair for a while but was unsure about sizing when it came to ordering, eventually I decided on my usual size and they fit perfectly! Urban Outfitters offer a great price too! One downside to these boots is that they do take a while to break in as they are a very stiff leather. However, don't let this put you off buying, after a few weeks of blisters they are really comfortable and have moulded to my foot. I have been recommending these to all my friends and a few of them have invested in these beauties too, they will definitely back up my refrence! Definitely a worth while purchase!"

"So I'm usually a 6.5 in shoes, and I ordered my first pair of docs in a size 7, which were pretty big on me. So when I got these black ones I got them in a size 6 which fit perfect but NOW i know what everyone means by these shoes being the hardest to break in. A common complaint I've heard is the ridge under the tongue hurting the top of your feet and this is what's happening to me. It almost feels like its cutting my circulation. BUT, I'm working on breaking them in and hopefully it doesn't take too long. They look amazing, just like the picture!

"I would suggest that you try them on before you buy them so you know what size you are and because they look different on everyone. I love these shoes i get so many compliments when i wear them and they go great with leggings, jeans, skirts, and dresses."

"i adore these boots for ages but when i decided to purchase them, i had a lot of concerns like sizing, comfort, etc. i read the earlier reviews so i decided to down a size, which was a perfect decision. i am normally 7, i purchased a 6 and it fit perfect. they are really comfy. quality is also good. i recommend it to anyone."

"These are the best shoes ever. I wear them pretty much everyday because it goes with mostly everything in my wardrobe! I was abit unsure whether to purchase them or not but im so glad i finally did!
