Very cute but requires some trial and error.

"Based on the other reviews, I ordered my size and a half-size down. My normal size fit perfectly and the half-size down was not even close. I've noticed in general that Frye sizing is all over the map even with boots that should theoretically be the same. The two pairs of boots were completely different colors. One size was totally distressed and the other looked like the web photo. That being said, I love them. They are heavy but pretty comfortable for an extended period of standing/walking."

"I got these boots about a month ago and have never been more happy with a purchase. I'm usually a size 7.5-8 and I bought the 7.5 and they fit perfectly. When I first got them the heel area seemed too big for my foot, but after wearing them for a couple of days they're perfectly fine. My toes aren't cramped, but at the same time I'm not sliding around in them. They're so cute and go with just about any outfit, from a black tunic to a pair of jeans! Frye is also known for outstanding quality, so I know I'll have these for years and years. I definitely recommend these!"

"I've had these boots since 2006, I've kicked the heck out of them, and there still going, I've had the heal resoled recently, its nice to have boots that you can actually Get resoled. My only problem with them has been how sueded the leather is on the inside of the boot which made it nearly impossible to get a normal boot sock in it, I took to putting a smooth trowser sock on over my woolies, which worked everything out-- Mostly I think they run true to size, but if you live in a colder climate, get a half size up so you can wear warm socks. oh, and they dont have insoles really, so if you need arch suport or a little more cushion, I also recommend getting a half size up to accommodate a insole."

"They were a little difficult to break in (they're hard, heavy, tough as sh*** leather boots), but these are far and away my favorite shoes. Ever.
You can wear them with just about anything, just order a 1/2 size down from your regular as they run a little big."

"ive been thinking about these for god knows how long. finally bought them and i couldn't be happier. im usually an 8 and ordered a 7.5 and they fit perfect. at first look out the box i was unsure...they seemed stiff, clunky and huge. but ive been wearing them every day for a week and its love. they're already considerably more comfortable and awesome. little tough to get on and off but they have those great little straps to stick your fingers in to help! also getting easier as i break them in. GET THEM! i know ill still be rockin these babies when im 50.
also note they don't look exactly as pictured..the coloring is a lot more uneven and worn looking which personally i like better. .id go more by the pictures other people have posted."

"I got these boots as a gift at the end of December. They go with literally everything in my closet (which is a lot!). In Chicago the weather is always variable and they work well and don't slide on ice, snow, or in rain. Definitely use the frye leather conditioning cream- it keeps my boots soft and helps remove the salt they pick up outside off the leather. The only thing is they are intiially too big and stretch out; I have a full size smaller than my normal shoe size, and they fit perfectly."

"I cannot begin to explain how incredible these boots are! They are sturdy, high quality, and beautiful. Nice, rich color too. I just got them so they are pretty stiff & will probably take a while to break in. I wear a 9/10 and the 9 fits great with socks. They are pricey but I think it's well worth it since these boots will last for years. LOVE EM!"

"I've been wanting these boots for awhile and finally broke down and bought them. Although they are a a little pricey I know they'll last forever and don't regret my purchase at all.They do run a large and I suggest wearing thicker socks until you break them in a little bit."

"I've had these boots for almost 7-8 years now. They've held up remarkably and I am always getting compliments. They've been through a lot, and when they start looking a bit tired, I just slap some leather conditioner on them and they look good as new! My mother had a pair of Frye boots back in her day and she has the same story to tell. If I'm not mistaken, I believe she may have hers still. So moral of the story- Frye boots were built to last at least a generation."

"I wear these boots every day. EVERY DAY. They look amazing with everything, but I mostly wear them with dresses. They fit a bit snug at first, but after 3 months have started to form to my feet and aren't as difficult to pull on and off. That's what bootstraps are for, anyway. They are super comfy and sturdy and I get compliments on them wherever I go. My mother actually wore the same Frye boots when she was in college, which goes to show how classic they truly are."

"I had to order this boot three times to get it right, but as it turns out, third time is the charm. They certainly run large, as other reviewers have noted, so instead of my usual 7.5, I sized down to a 7. Sadly, the boot was still too big, so I returned the 7 and ordered a 6.5. The 6.5 fit perfectly, but when they arrived, the pair looked like they had already been worn. I know what new Frye leather is supposed to feel like and this boot was worn and broken in - the shaft wouldn't even stand up straight. It flopped over and had already created a crease at the ankle. I returned the suspect pair for another 6.5 and now I absolutely love them. It does sort of look like I was sent two different boots, as the colors/tone of the left and right boots don't exactly match, but it doesn't bother me. I can't wait to wear these all fall and winter, and probably then some!"

"I just recently received these shoes and I absolutely adore them. I can tell that they were made very well and that I am going to be getting a lot of wear out of them. My only little itty bitty issue that I have with them is sizing. I normally wear a size 8 1/2 and my feet are on the wide side. I ordered a size 9 because I read that these shoes run narrow. My 9's absolutely accommodate the width of my feet, they feel extremely roomy and place absolutely no pressure on my toes. However, due to my slender ankles, my feet practically slip out of them when I walk. I have solved this problem by doubling up on my socks, and it does seem to help. However, I can see this being problematic on warm days. Nonetheless, I am determined to keep them. My only advice is that if you can try these shoes on before purchasing them, I would definitely do so."

"I'm a student so these boots were a bit of a splurge for me, but I have to say they are fantastic: extremely well-made and durable -- they will last forever -- totally worth it for the quality. Some ppl have complained of them being too small/not tts. I thought mine were too small at first. They kind of squished my feet. But after about 5 wears, they stretched out and they fit my feet perfectly. SO comfortable. I'm glad I didn't return them!"

"I have had the boots for more than five years. Over that time I have worn them almost everyday each fall and winter. I have never worried about getting them soaked because they hold up so well. They look better today than the day I bought them. I have heard some people say that these boots are too narrow but I haven't had that problem. However, they are not suited for long treks. I wore these on a trip to New Orleans and got blisters on my heels the first day I was there. These don't support high arches well, either."

"I have wanted a pair of frye's for a long time and I finally decided to go for it! I took the recomendations of others to order a half of a size smaller and it worked out perfectly. however, I have high insteps so they take a little work to get into but once they're on, they are so comfortable and cute. I got them friday and wore them out that night! I absolutely love them... I just can't wait until they fully break in."

"I wear these with jeans, dresses, shorts....basically everything. I've had them for about 2 years now and they are the best boots I have ever owned. They're super durable and the little heel is great. They may seem pricey but are TOTALLY worth it."
